LENDER PACK CHECKLIST — TAX BILL FUNDING ========================================== What to put in front of an underwriter to get a fast, clean credit decision. We use a version of this list with every deal we place. If the file is complete on day one, decisions move fast. If anything is missing the file gets parked, and the longer it sits the more likely it bounces between desks. Tick each item before submitting. If something doesn't apply, write "n/a" with one line of context — silence reads as missing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. COMPANY IDENTITY -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] Companies House registration number [ ] Full registered name (matches Companies House exactly) [ ] Trading name(s) if different [ ] Registered office address + trading address [ ] Date of incorporation [ ] Director(s) — full name, DOB, residential address, % shareholding -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. THE BILL BEING FUNDED -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] HMRC reference (VAT number, PAYE reference, UTR + accounting period) [ ] Tax type and exact period (e.g. "VAT, period ending 31 March 2026") [ ] Amount payable (£) [ ] Due date [ ] HMRC payment instructions (sort code/account, payment reference) [ ] Copy of the HMRC notice/return showing the figure (PDF or screenshot) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. FINANCIAL POSITION -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] Last filed accounts (full statutory accounts, not abbreviated where available) [ ] Most recent management accounts (P&L + balance sheet, ideally not more than 3 months old) [ ] Aged debtor and aged creditor reports as at month-end [ ] Last 6 months of business bank statements (PDF, not screenshots) — every account, including savings and merchant settlement accounts [ ] Confirmation of any other tax liabilities outstanding (PAYE, CT, VAT other than the period being funded) [ ] Existing debt schedule: lender, balance, monthly payment, end date, security taken -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. TRADING HISTORY -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] Brief description of what the business does (3-4 sentences, plain English, not marketing copy) [ ] Sector / SIC code [ ] Number of employees (PAYE headcount) [ ] Average monthly turnover, current trading year [ ] Top 3 customers as % of turnover (concentration risk) [ ] Any seasonality (one line) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. THE STORY (ONE-PAGE COVER NOTE) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] Why funding is needed: the cashflow event behind the gap (one paragraph, factual) [ ] Why this bill is bigger than usual, OR why the cash isn't there this quarter, OR what changed (one paragraph) [ ] How repayment will be funded (point to the line in management accounts or the contract that sources it) [ ] Any complications the underwriter should know about up front: prior CCJ now satisfied, tribunal appeal in progress, dispute with a customer, ongoing HMRC enquiry, etc. A clean cover note moves a file faster than anything else in this list. Underwriters don't want surprises mid-decision; they will accept non-perfect history if it's framed honestly on page one. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6. DIRECTOR(S) — PERSONAL POSITION -------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Required because most deals carry a personal guarantee.) [ ] Personal Asset & Liability statement, signed and dated [ ] Last 3 months of personal current account statements (main account) [ ] Date of birth, address history (3 years), proof of ID (passport or driving licence), proof of address (utility or bank, < 3 months) [ ] Bankruptcy / IVA / CCJ disclosure: yes or no, with detail if yes -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7. IF AN INTRODUCER OR ACCOUNTANT IS PLACING THIS DEAL -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ ] Their firm name and FCA / professional body number [ ] Their relationship to the borrower (years, role, last engagement) [ ] Their take on the deal in 3 sentences -------------------------------------------------------------------------- COMMON REJECTIONS -------------------------------------------------------------------------- These kill more deals than rate negotiations. Avoid them: • No filed accounts (under 18 months trading) — go to specialist lenders, expect 2-3% / month • Recent unsatisfied CCJ — needs explaining and ideally satisfaction before submission • Other tax already in arrears beyond the bill being funded — fund the whole position or expect questions • Bank statements that show repeated returned DDs in the last 90 days • Director PG declined for personal credit reasons — same lender, different shape needed (asset-backed, secured) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- PUT IT ALL IN ONE FOLDER. Send as a single ZIP or shared link. Ten files, ten minutes to read. That's what underwriters want.
