HMRC LETTER

Time to Pay request letter

Plain-English letter template for requesting a Time to Pay arrangement. Covers VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax. Edit the bracketed sections, send to HMRC. Includes notes on the online self-serve thresholds and when a phone call beats a letter.

HMRC LETTER

HMRC chase letter

For when HMRC has gone quiet on a repayment, R&D claim, or correspondence beyond their published service standard. Firm but civil. Names a date, asks for an answer, references the missed standard. Use after a phone chase has stalled.

BOARD PAPER

Tax bill funding approval

One-page board paper template for getting director sign-off on commercial finance for a tax bill. Includes options analysis (pay on time, pay late, take a loan, agree a TTP), cost-benefit framing, risk section, and a clean decision request.

CASHFLOW

13-week cashflow forecast

CSV template for a rolling 13-week cashflow forecast. Pre-populated with HMRC payment lines (VAT, PAYE, CT, CIS, SA) so you can see the squeeze coming before it hits. Open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

CASHFLOW

VAT cashflow tracker

A 12-month working spreadsheet with formulas for sales VAT, purchase VAT, net VAT due, and cumulative position. Pre-filled with example data so you see the shape before erasing it. Sort the bill dates against the cash position before they hit.

COMPARISON

Factoring vs tax bill loan

Side-by-side comparison of invoice factoring and tax-specific lending across cost, speed, commitment, and customer-visibility lines. Includes a worked example on an £80k VAT bill so you can see the numbers, not the brochure copy.

LENDER PACK

Underwriter pack checklist

The exact list of documents and information underwriters need to issue a clean credit decision on a tax bill loan. Skip an item and the file gets parked. Includes a one-page cover-note brief that moves files faster than anything else.

CUSTOMER LETTER

Late payment chase (3 levels)

Three escalation letters for chasing past-due B2B invoices: friendly reminder, formal demand, final notice before legal action. Includes statutory interest and section 5A compensation calculations under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act.

CHECKLIST

MTD for Income Tax readiness

Twelve-month run-up checklist for sole traders and landlords entering MTD ITSA. Software choice, bank feed setup, quarterly cadence, sign-up steps, and the common errors that cause penalty-point accumulation in the first cycle.

Notes on use

  • The TTP letter is a written follow-up to a phone call in most cases. HMRC agrees most arrangements over the phone via the Business Payment Support Service.
  • The board paper assumes a limited company with a properly constituted board. Adapt the decision section for LLPs, sole-director companies, or owner-managed structures as appropriate.
  • The cashflow templates are intentionally minimal so you can extend them. Keep the HMRC liability lines as the non-negotiable spine and build operational detail around them.
  • The late payment letter references the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, which applies automatically to UK B2B debts. You don't need it in your terms to claim under it.
  • None of these are legal or financial advice. They are working starting points based on what we see lenders, HMRC officers, and finance teams actually accept.
